Files (1960-1967) contain correspondence and reports regarding the planning, establishment, activities, meetings, and program of the Miami Lutheran Refugee Service (M.L.R.S.). Files include discussion of loans to and participation with other agencies, a proposed Inter-Lutheran Welfare Agency in Florida, the M.L.R.S.' projected programs and phasing-out schedule, discussion with government offices about refugee resettlement policies, procedures and vboluntary agency affidavits for Cuban refugees, and the M.L.R.S.' petition for recognition by and admittance to the Welfare Planning Council of Dade County, Florida, as an agency operating in the. Welfare field. Also included are files regarding the establishment of the Christian Community Service Agency of Dade County, Florida, an agency proposed to provide united Christian service to Cuban refugees and supported by the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. Discussion relates to personnel policies, the office dedication (1966), finances, and Lutheran Immigration Service's (LIS) desire to participate in the agency. The Miami Lutheran Refugee Service (M.L.R.S.) was formed in 1963 under the auspices of the National Lutheran Council and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod's joint agency, Lutheran Immigration Service, to aid Cuban refugees in Miami, Florida.
